1) FIRST STEP: MAPS
Hello everybody! We are Elena and Marion, from Spain and France. We
are doing the EVS in Prostejov, Czech Republic, and we would like to share with
you some advices about travelling.
It can be difficult to organize trips in a foreign country where the
language, system transport and everything are strange and different for you.
However, nothing stopped us and, little by little, we found easy and cheap ways
to enjoy Czech Republic and other countries of Central Europe.
We will start with the most important thing that you will need in
this country and, well, in any country you would like to travel: maps, of
course!
If you are not going to have Internet in your phone, the first thing
to need to do is to get a map of Czech Republic in your smartphone that can
works without Internet.
If you don’t like this option, you can always get or print a normal paper
map of a place where you are going.
We prefer the maps in the smartphone because for us is much more comfortable:
you don’t have to worry about printing a map, or finding the streets in a paper,
places or whatever, as the GPS will help you with
everything.
So we can tell you two two useful applications that you can download free and easily.

Both of them are very good and useful because you can download the map of a country of Europe that you want to go, and, as I said, you don’t need Internet to see the map.
The only thing that you have to do is ensure that you
have enough space in your phone to install the app and download the map (maybe
you will need 400 Mb more or less for a map of Czech Republic). When you have the downloaded the map, you will have the option of
looking for city, street, building, place…
Finally, once you put the address, you only will need to know how to
read the map. Sometimes it is not as easy as it looks!!
Hope it was useful for you. In the next entry we will tell you the next step: how to organize the transport ;)
